Day 07 → A photo that makes you happy

I love Buck O'Neil. He was such an inspirational man, I only wish I could have met him before he passed away.

R.I.P. Buck! <3

nervous

current mood: nervous
current song: Gravity- Sara Bareilles(sp!)

I realized that I should invest in a cork screw. There is this excellent bottle of wine sitting on my dresser that I haven't touched in... weeks! since mid-semester. pesky little thing called a bottle opener... >:(

I'm nervous today. Not sure why, maybe it's the coffee that I shouldn't have had a few hours ago. I feel jumpy and my heart is beating a little faster than I'd like it to.

Last night I started started a new blog. Judy's Great Escape. I'll reveal it when the time is right, but I can't wait to start writing about all the new and wonderful things I'll be doing. I've already found an art project that I'm going to start working on abroad. Two, actually. I hope they will both work out. At least one will, that's for sure.

As the semester whines down, I have plenty of things left to do...

(Number one should be to finally clean up my room! I can't get packing done with all my shit all over the place.)

Two, is change something about myself. I think it will be a new haircut. New world, new look, new me. Haven't decided what it will be yet, nor do I have the guts to go through with it yet... but I should!

Three, tie loose ends in this world before I move on to the the next. This one will be tough because I like to run away from problems, and it will sure be simple to jump on a plane January 3rd and yell, "Fix yourself while I'm gone!"

Four, say my goodbyes. There will be no coming back in a few weeks. Instead it will be more like five months. Honestly I'd love to extend it to all the way to July and get lost in Prague, get high in Amsterdam, ski in Switzerland, all those things! (Who am I kidding, I won't do drugs; still too straight-edge for that...)

Five, invest in a sketchbook. Moleskin, I love you-a! I am making a promise to myself to watercolor while abroad. I want all my pages to be filled with watercolor sketches of the beautiful urban fabrics of the cities I'll see.

Six,... well five is good for now.

Day 05 → Your favourite quote

This is another tough one because there are many quotes I very much enjoy but I left my awesome quote book I made at home! One that sticks out in my mind very much mirrors my situation right now...

"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." -Rogers Hornsby

Love love love that quote because it is so true (esp in my case). It just makes me happy that there were so many players like that who really loved the game of baseball, and there still are many players now that feel the same way. I mean of course making money is nice, but I'm so happy for the guys who really enjoy what they are doing rather than those who just do it because it's something they are good at. This quote makes me think of the guys in the independent league in my town. Sure, the majority of them won't ever make the Majors, let alone a minor league roster, but they still play for the love of the game. A guy on the team last year, Jose Felix, has been playing baseball for TWENTY FIVE YEARS! What a dedication to the game. I can't wait for spring!!! <3
